Heritage of London Trust
Description
Heritage of London Trust rescues London’s ‘at risk’ heritage and uses heritage to create positive social impact within London’s communities. The Trust restores and carefully conserves historic buildings and monuments all across the city, encourages public access, appreciation and imaginative reuse. The Trust also runs a social impact programme called Proud Places, reaching out to young people to get involved in conservation projects. Young people find out about their local heritage, learn conservation skills, discuss broad themes around London’s history and take part in creative workshops. This leads to local pride amongst communities, a reduction in anti-social behaviour and new opportunities, pathways and life skills for young people from challenging backgrounds. The Proud Places programme helps make heritage conservation sustainable. Over 10,000 young people have been involved in the Proud Places programme since its launch in 2020.
