
Peter McDowell
Peter is a fundraising executive who has secured millions of dollars in donations for nonprofit causes such as American Friends of the Louvre, L.A. Dance Project, GRAMMY-winning ensemble Eighth Blackbird, and the award-winning documentary Jimmy in Saigon. With over three decades of experience in nonprofit leadership as well as consulting Peter has worked with organisations including OPERA America, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
As a film director and producer, Peter’s full-length feature Jimmy in Saigon premiered at the British Film Institute's Flare Festival in March 2022, and has since been featured in 40 international festivals, winning 16 awards, including Best Documentary and Best Director.
Peter’s expertise spans major gifts, foundation and corporate giving, executive leadership, staff management, and marketing. He is also a sought-after speaker and workshop leader, having presented at institutions like the Manhattan School of Music, Northwestern School of Music, and Eastman School of Music. He was a 2016-18 International Fellow at the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland.
